Ghana’s main asset is that it offers the shortest transit time for pineapple of all producing countries (less than 10 days). It is therefore not surprising that Génération Fruit has made Ghana its preferred origin of supply. The imported variety is the Extra Sweet, which is the most common variety in the southern hemisphere. Génération Fruit receives weekly deliveries all year long in Port-Vendres and Antwerp. Its partner producer in Ghana is GlobalGap certified and involved in an ongoing improvement process with Génération Fruit intended to achieve C3 colour, which is optimum for the French market.
